A favorite topic that I write about is advice for small business website owners to add fresh content often for the benefit of their visitors. Those visitors include search engine crawlers, and the search engine optimization value is enhanced by adding new content frequently. A small business blog is the perfect way to create new site content, and making a post once a week may give you an edge over your competition.
Consider how many of your small business competitors have a blog. The majority do not. If you are a blogger, a weekly post could be the key advantage beating out the competition and attracting new prospects to your website.

A link directory is an ideal place for website owners to exchange links without the fear of being rejected. Website owners are increasingly reluctant to link to other sites fearing that their site will lose page rank and relevance if they link to all kinds of websites. So, as a newbie website owner you would find it extremely difficult to get one-way links from individual website owners.
It is easy to get links from link directories but the quality of links won’t be too great. As a new website owner you don’t have much choice regarding the quality of websites you get link back from, their page rank, their relevance or their ranking. Also, reciprocal links are not valued highly by search engines.

If your goal is to create a large source of income from your site then attracting more visitors is key. This means that you need to increase both your new or unique traffic as well as regular readers.

It certainly is easier to find the winning solution for yourself. You simply map out a strategy, implement it and tweak things along the way until you’re able to get the results you want. But what most people fail to realize is that when you are able find a winning solution for others as well as yourself, you can both “win”, often with much less time and expense, than you would if you simply tried to come up with a winning scenario for yourself.

Disaster #10. Polishing Your Car But Never Using It
You know those guys who wax and polish their car every day yet never seem to drive it anywhere? You know - the ones who treat their car like some God-like creation that is to be admired and not used.
Well, you can fall victim to this same disaster with your website. I know I did.
There was a point when I looked at my website (I only had one at the time) like it was my baby. And it WAS my baby - I created the darn thing from scratch. Chiseled every edge and hammered every nail on that sucker.
