I Hate My Job - Should I Quit To Start My Own Business?

Statistics tell us that about 80 percent of small businesses will go out of business the first year they’re in business. And of those that remain, 80 percent of them will not be in business 5 years from now. With figures like that, it’s easy to see that the failure rate of new businesses is staggering.

Make no mistake… those are alarming statistics!

Yet, even with those incredible numbers, people still quit secure and well-paying jobs or careers, hock everything they have, and take their dreams into the marketplace with little or no planning, and with little or no regard for the harshness and cruelty of what the marketplace can bring without proper planning.

Bridges declared that the “job” is obsolete, and that it’s essential to re-position ourselves in order to function and thrive in an economy and workforce that continues to shift and depend more and more on outsourcing and consulting experts.

Back when her unpopular TV show, “The Apprentice,” was on the air, Martha Stewart’s company lost 40% of its value. As the face (and name) of the company, people were clearly turned off by the experience of her in the “you’re fired” role.

Until then, we’d seen Martha striving for perfection in cooking, home decorating, entertaining, gardening and many other domestically oriented areas, all while cooing her catchphrase, “It’s a good thing.” We’d heard rumors she was a little testy behind the scenes, but who cares? I’d be cranky too if it meant my pies would turn out perfectly.
