Take Control Of Your Anger

All of us at some time or other will have the odd angry outburst, as emotions run high it is quite normal to show anger. However, for some people anger is a controlling factor in their lives. For many years I was a very angry person and because of this the lives of those around me was a nightmare. After two failed marriages I realised that my problems were caused by my own angry outbursts. One day I took a long hard look at myself and decided that I needed help, I learned how to control my emotions and ever since my life has become much happier.

Anger is an emotion which the vast majority of us are quite capable of controlling, however for some of us this emotion is much harder to control. For those of us who cannot control our anger, the slightest problem encountered can send them into an uncontrollable rage. This problem no matter how slight can and often is seen to be something major. People who are unable to control their anger can destroy relationships they have with those closest to them. These angry people may, during fits of uncontrollable rage hit doors, walls, and other inanimate objects and even go as far as to break things. It will be a very frighting thing for those around this person to witness. Of course no good ever comes out of this. This person has to be made to realise that he or she must learn to control their anger.

The first thing a person should try to do to control anger, is to look at other positive ways to rid themselves of this negative energy. If you are the type of person who usually over reacts when confronted with a problem, then learning to redirect your reactions would be most beneficial to you. A good way for some people to redirect their anger, would be to wait until they get home, then go outside and carry out some physical activity such as gardening. For many people, waiting till they get home would not be an option. The best advice I can give to these people is to just walk away. This of course will be a huge challenge, because these are the type of people who wont normally back down from anything. And because these people are always ready to fight, they usually have many enemies. People who suffer from uncontrollable rage usually have very few friends, and when they do manage to make new friends, these friends are very quickly driven away. This becomes even more complicated when their enemies also have anger management issues. This is usually the cause of major wars.

Lets face it, once in a while you are going to get angry, however learning to control that anger will make for a much better life both socially and in the workplace. If you find yourself having difficulties then seek professional help from an anger management counselor or minister. Remember you don’t have to face this misery alone, there are people out there who can and will help you.
