Managing Your Time With A Home Organizer

You may like the idea of managing your home and life with a home organizer but don’t know where to start. One look at those endless printables begging you to fill them in and you may just throw up your hands in despair
Well don’t. A Home Organizer is a wonderful tool to help you manage all aspects of your day, life and home. But it involves getting comfortable with list making.
Using lists is one of the most important tools for those working to manage their time. They keep you on task and remind you of items you might otherwise forget.
So here a step by step plan to help you ease into your Home Organizer with out regret.

1. First pick an organizer that will work for you. A weekly planner, templates that you can print off and put in the binder of your choice, or an electronic organizer. Choose the style you are most likely to use. Not everyone wants electronic. As much as I like gadgets a little zippered binder that is filled with my own templates works the best for me.

At the very least, to manage your life details your organizer should contain… calendar to do list phone numbers
If you plan on also using your organizer to help you manage your home then you will also want templates such as… menu planner cleaning lists maintenance lists bill payment list home inventory grocery list

2. Make sure you keep your organizer in a place where you can easily see it and get to it throughout your day. If you’re going somewhere take it with you. I keep mine on the dining table. I work nearby so I just go over to it to get back on track.

3. Build it slowly. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Whether you’ve opted for a pre-made weekly planner, a binder you’re filling in with templates or an electronic time management piece work on filling it in a little at a time. Set aside some time each day to prepare a section or a page. Spend no more than 30 minutes a day on it or you may get overwhelmed and tired.
If you’re working on your cleaning lists build them when you clean a room. That way you will know what cleaning details you will need to list. Do one room at a time.

4. Take your planner with you to appointments and check with it often. Check your plans for the day the night before, the morning of, in the afternoon.

5. Have a blank notes section in your planner to jot down ideas, goals, notes, and anything you don’t have a regular place for. You may find yourself making a section in your organizer for it later.

6. Set aside some time each evening to prepare your details for the next day. Make sure you have your to-do’s listed so you can get right at them first thing.
Your organizer will evolve as you become more comfortable with using it to manage your life.
